The claims made in the tweet and video that Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped the Russia-Ukraine war to facilitate the evacuation of Indian students are exaggerated and misleading. While it is true that PM Modi made phone calls to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to ensure the safe passage of Indian students from conflict zones like Kharkiv and Sumy, the overall war was never halted. According to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, PM Modi's intervention did result in temporary pauses in specific areas to allow evacuations, but the broader conflict continued unabated (India Today, Hindustan Times). The Ministry of External Affairs also clarified that while specific routes were made available for evacuation, it is inaccurate to claim that the war was coordinated or halted entirely by India (The Quint). Therefore, the assertion that Modi stopped the Russia-Ukraine war is an overstatement and should be viewed with skepticism.
